Why the name
Felony Entertainment?
For exactly the reason we chose the name, Felony Entertainment is the reason why I need to explain it. Felony Entertainment is a business created by individuals who have been labeled felons by society. Having learned from their mistakes, they decide not only to make a change in their lives but in the lives of others like them. The situations that brought them to their label are not unique. It is what many of our minority youth whom were growing up in the ghettos in the 80's and 90's thought or were fooled into believing was a cool way to make a living. This is, of course, the years that the drug trade and crack cocaine was released into the communities. Families were broken down and children were left to defend for themselves while their parents chased their drug addictions. During this time the only consant example of a giving hand was the dope dealer on the corner.. The truth is that this is what some children saw as a role model and as an escape from the ghetto. This person was respected, had his own business and made a lot of money running it. We know and understand that at the same time this dealer was making his money he was also assisting in the destruction of the family unit and of peoples lives: (His own to boot.)
THAT IS THE TRUTH.
Felony Entertainment was created by two ex-felons who met after their release from prison for drug crimes. They were working to make changes in their lives for the better. No longer involved in the old lifestyle they venture out into the world to look for employment. They are working to be contributing citizens living on the right side of the law but on every application that they hand in it asks the question "Have you been convicted of a felony and or released from prison in the last seven years? Tell the truth or lie? The truth is not many won't to hire a felon and especially not one that has been convicted of a drug crime. So what do we do? Go back to the old ways to support ourselves and families? No Way! We use the skills we learned in the past to market a new product. This product is powerful, this product too has the ability to change lives but this time there is a difference this product can change lives for the better . This product does not discriminate on who it grabs hold of either and its power is so compelling that it can save lives.
The product is music.
Felons are the titles that we must continue to carry even after we suffered incarceration and loss of our freedom: after we paid a price with a piece of our life for our mistake of breaking the "law". Being a felon not only means you have been incarcerated it also means that you will have a harder time than other seeking employment, housing, your voting rights, etc. Felony is the legacy of a crime; continued punishement.
Felony Entertainment is here to help others who are struggling with the same issues and assist others from not making the same mistakes we did. We are here to support those who want to make a positive change in their lives. Felony Entertainment is here to show others that it can be done. You can create your own destiny. Felony Entertainment is here to show by example that you can make a positive transition from a jail cell to again having your own clientele....this time with a product that is worth talking about.
